I can uncheck the box, apply, then right click the folder again only to see it still as read only. I've tried to un-check "read only" for the save folder (C:\Users\(myname)\my documents\my games\savegames\fallout 3), but that doesn't stick. I am an administrator, so I have full permissions. In fact, I can't even get the initial loading screens when I do that. I've tried running the game in compatibility mode for XP and Vista, and neither work. The more I try, the sooner it seems to be happening. It also starts to prompt me that Fallout 3 has stopped working, should I look online for a solution or close the program. This is repeated about 6 times with restarts to my computer in between each attempt. After a bit, I ctrl+alt+delete out to see that Fallout 3 is "not responding." I kill the program, and this causes the sound to get stuck in a repeating loop that won't go away until I restart my computer. The music is playing, but nothing is happening. The game begins the load sequence, I see the little loading status icon (like a pie chart divided into 4 sections in the bottom middle screen), and it stops just a hair over the 3/4 mark. I change the resolution to my monitor's native 1680x1050, and finally select "new" to start a new game. I go to settings and set it to as low as it can go, but it has no effect. It's as though the sensitivity is maxed out, with maximum acceleration.

The first thing I notice on the menu screen is that my mouse moves WAY too fast. The patch installation goes OK, and the game automatically starts up. I go to and get the latest patch for the game, 1.5, and begin by installing that patch. Start, All Programs, and nothing there for Fallout 3.
#FALLOUT 3 HAS STOPPED WORKING WINDOWS 7 INSTALL#
Fallout 3's install went well, but it didn't create any shortcuts in my start menu for some reason. I've had the game, sitting in plastic, for about 3 months, so I was pretty excited to check it out. I finally decide to unwrap my Fallout 3 and install the game.
